Our people

The firm is managed by Matias ten Doornkaat who started his experience with a US-based almond handler. After 3 years he has moved on for another 3 years at a African based trading company. He operates mostly from the South African offices to be closer to some of the products offered in our range and to cater for the local market.

The backbone of our operations is run by Anyerla Cardenas who has in excess of 5 years of experience in international shipping and logistics with a Chilean Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier. She moves all our cargo globally by sea or road transport from the Chilean office to liaise quickly with our suppliers and transporters for our Latin American cargo.

Why work with us?

Every lot delivered by Agri Merchants has been inspected either by Agri Merchants or by independent surveyors. For every consignment we will supply therefore an analysis of the product which adequately guarantees your import quality and most importantly, delivers a smile before receiving the cargo.

Items inspected by Agri Merchants will have to depart from Abidjan, Cape Town, Rotterdam, or Valparaiso. We will deliver with each consignment:

  • Certificate Of Analysis (COA)
  • Photos of the product
  • Photos of the container loading

If it does not depart from the afore-mentioned port, we will still make sure that your cargo is in safe hands by commissioning a third-party independent inspector. We understand that cargo is of high value and perfection is the key.

Next to our scrupulous inspection procedures, we understand the need for guaranteed food safe products. Therefore, to ensure only the best products, all our foodstuffs delivered for human consumption come from Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) accredited factories or who carry the Agri Merchants safety approval. Every year we perform audits in elevated food risk regions to guarantee these food safety standards.
